B.C. reports 583 new COVID-19 cases, 12 deaths

B.C. health officials reported 583 new cases of COVID-19 today. Since the pandemic began, B.C. has recorded 347,376 cases.
The numbers of new and total cases are provisional due to a delayed data refresh, according to a B.C. government news release.
Of the new cases, 91 are in the Vancouver Coastal Health region (including Richmond), 138 in the Fraser Health region, 96 in the Island Health region, 183 in the Interior Health region, 75 in the Northern Health region, and no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada.
There are 599 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19 and 96 are in intensive care.
To date, 11,310,191 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Pfizer Pediatric COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in B.C.; 4,289,963 of those are second doses and 2,562,401 are third doses.
This means that 93.6 per cent of adults, 93.2 per cent of people aged 12 and older, and 90.6 per cent of people aged five and older have received their first dose of a vaccine. In addition, 91.1 per cent of adults, 90.7 per cent of those aged 12 and older, and 86.1 per cent of those aged five and older have received two doses; 57.4 per cent of adults and 55.3 per cent of those aged 12-plus have received three doses.
Sadly, there were 12 new COVID-related deaths reported today, bringing that total to 2,851. One reported death was also removed from the total due to a data correction. Of those who died since yesterday, 10 lived in the Fraser Health region, one in the Island Health region, and one in the Northern Health region.
Health authorities reported one new health-care facility outbreak and declared three over. Active outbreaks continue at 24 long-term care facilities, one assisted or independent living facility, and two acute care facilities.
From Feb. 17 to 23, people not fully vaccinated accounted for 20.7 per cent of cases and from Feb. 10 to 23 they accounted for 33.7 per cent of hospitalizations.
